Packard
Bell was one of the first major corporations to leverage
the potential of on-line virtual worlds for real world
branding and practical business benefits. The goal
of the project was to develop virtual on-line communities
of practice and recreate 6 countries of the Packard
Bell network -- England, France, Italy, Spain, Sweeden,
and Holland.

The virtual
communities consist of five learning spaces based
on knowledge, technology, education, culture and entertainment.
The virtual Packard Bell world includes major landmarks
of each country as well as a pub, technology dome,
children's park, and even a night club.
The project
was a major success both as a training tool and as
an extension of the Packard Bell branding experience.
One feature enables Packard Bell's customers to receive
an access code when purchasing a pc. Designated staff
populate the virtual community to guide, train and
advice its customers on how to best use Packard Bell's
products.
